Although Poe probably received only $10 for the story, it has become one of the most well-known horror tales of all time. It has been adapted for film fourteen times to date, inspired seven popular songs by artists diverse as Simon and Garfunkle to Insane Clown Posse. It has even inspired a video game (available on Google Play andiOS) and a ballet!
