Overview: After analyzing a scary story from a local or far away land, you are going to create an accompanying artwork, incorporating all the of elements necessary for that art form.
Step 1: Pick a story. EACH image below is a link to several stories. There are over 25 stories in all. Take some time and pick one you really like because you will be working intensely with that story for about a week.
Step 2: Create an artwork to accompany your legend.
This is assignment demonstrates that you can successfully apply the elements of various art forms to a creative artwork of your design. Choose a genre of art you feel comfortable with: Visual Art, Dance, Theater, Music, Literature, then follow the parameters below:
- VA - you can choose any form of VA but you MUST show effort
- i.e. a pencil drawing of stick people on lined paper is NOT effort
- MUSIC: you can compose a song and perform it live or recorded (or you may have a musician perform it). You can compose it for a real instrument or use a computer program (at least 1:30 in length).
- DANCE: you can choreograph and perform a dance, live or recorded (at least 60 seconds in length)
- LITERATURE: you can write a poem expertly crafted with literary devices
- i.e. "There once was a woman who drowned, her name is very renowned, she steals babies at night, and gives a great fright, there once was a woman who drowned." is NOT expertly crafted.
- THEATER: you can write/perform a scene/monologue, live or recorded (at least 1 minute in length). You may also create a movie trailer for your story using a computer program. Additionally, you may reenact your story as a recorded theatrical performance. You must include a storyboard. CLICK HERE to see an example of a storyboard.

Let's Be Real
Although effort does count, part of your grade is craftsmanship (how nice does it look). See rubric at the top of the page. If you aren't a great artist, DON'T DRAW or paint or sketch, etc. I did a quick Google search of "La Llorona" and found these inspirational images below.

- Don't copy someone's work but use it to INSPIRE you. For example, look at several images, then do further research on make-up techniques OR look through several images then find something from each of them and pull it all together. THINK OUTSIDE OF THE BOX!!
