Design Principles of Visual Art
Artists will put the elements listed above together in various ways to create different effects. These "ways of putting things together" are called design principles.
Most visual art pieces are designed using the following principles:
+Movement +Balance +Variety +Repetition +Pattern +Proportion +Contrast +Emphasis |

Assessment - "Reimagined Art"
To demonstrate your mastery of the elements and principles of visual art, you will "reimagine" a piece of visual art. Select a piece of visual art (painting, sculpture, architecture, etc) from Art Authority or any other app on your iPad and recreate it, HOWEVER, you must make some changes:
1) you must use THREE different mediums
2) you must identify and change three elements and/or design principles
FAQs
How will it be graded?
The standard project rubric will be used to grade this assignment (see Study Guide and Rubrics tab).
What else is included in the project?
+submit an image of the original artwork along with the title and artist. You must
+be prepared to explain what elements and/or principles you changed and how that changed the overall "mood" of the work
+identify the 3 different mediums you used
Does my original artwork HAVE to come from Art Authority?
No, but your original artwork DOES have to be piece from an established artist. You may not choose a piece from "Bob, the artist's" website. Use the resources Mrs. G will provide in class or you can check out Artistaday.com or the latest artists highlighted by Artsy.net.
Be inspired by the work of previous students as seen below!
